It is not known exactly when or where the book of Proverbs was written, but it is believed that the initial compilation of Proverbs took place during the rule of King Solomon in Jerusalem, between 1015 and 975 BC of JC It is probable that many of the proverbs communication came from the oral traditions that existed before the time of Solomon. In addition, some proverbs were added after the time of Solomon: some chapters were added in the days of King Hezekiah of Judah. It is not known when the book took its final form.
