bible based happiness

The Bible offers good advice on what to look for and what to avoid when choosing our friends. A well known principle appears in the book of Proverbs. Iron with iron sharpens, and man with his neighbour sharpens. What does this verse mean, and how can this idea guide our friendships? According to a bible based happiness commentary when one piece of iron is rubbed against another, it shapes and sharpens it, and people help each other to improve with their conversations, criticisms, suggestions and ideas. The image of a butcher who sharpens the knife with a steel bar is a good example of how a strong metal serves to improve an instrument. Referring directly to friendship, another Bible study says there is a mental acuity that comes from walking with good people, two friends join their ideas and each helps the other to sharpen.
